Which is the cradle of civilization?
All historians give the answer as: Mesopotamia

Mesopotamia in Greek means "The land between two rivers".

Situated between two rivers: Tigris + Euphrates, the region contributed much to concepts which forms the core of our existence.

4. Earliest form of script in the forms of cuneiforms.

The first written manual of law : Code of Hammurabi which is famous for the phrase: 'An eye for an eye, A tooth for a tooth '

Though this law sounds violent, one should not take the meaning literally.
The sentence implies the karmic distribution. Those who produce negative actions will get negativity and those who produce positive actions will get positivity.
Scientifically this is recognized as Newton's Third Law of Motion.
For every action, the same reaction happens:
'An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth'
